WEBs-AX 3.8 Features & Benefits

  • Integrated Package: This release package not only includes the WEBs-AX software, but also includes the typical BAS tools like Spyder, Stryker & Venom that the customers previously had to download separately and install resulting in a tremendous time saving experience.

  • Security Enhancements: Default settings have been updated to ease the amount of configuration required to secure a system. This enhancement provides the assurance that the system is “secure by default”. Major security enhancements include, password strength configuration, improved authentication using updated LDAPv3, support for Kerberos Client authentication, IEEE 802.1x which prevents authentication to guest, rogue or unmanaged computers and FIPS 140-2 Level 1 encryption (sold as an option).

  • Data Management: Provides flexibility to manipulate Niagara data sets for enhanced reporting and visualization. For example: The Filter Node provides a user interface to allow the user to perform a BQL query against a resulting set of an incoming node, which pushes that resulting set out to the next connected node. The Time Shift Node shifts the timestamp value of the incoming record sets by the amount determined by the shift. This way, you can have records from today compared directly on the X axis of a history graph with the records from yesterday.

  • Vector Graphics Support: The embedded Batik Java Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) toolkit allows you to design graphics that scale without degrading the quality by using SVG images. These SVG can be used in Px pages in the same manner as GIF, PNG, or JPG images.

  • Enhanced Mobile Function: Software developers can now create rich mobile pages that resemble the graphical images of a desktop Px page, copy existing Px pages to a mobile view, as well as including three new tool bar icons on Px editor that provides for Zoom In and Out.

  • Niagara Guest Account: An important security enhancement that is introduced in this release is by default, the Niagara Guest Account is disabled for all field controllers. This improves the level of security for a Niagara system and we strongly encourage our entire customer base from enabling this unless it is absolutely imperative. The Demo controllers are shipped with Guest Account as Enabled.

  • Enhanced Password Management: Default settings have been updated to ease the amount of configuration required to secure a system. The enhancements provide the assurance that the system is “secure by default”. Major security enhancements include, password strength configuration, where the users have the ability to choose the level of strength of the passwords based on the needs of the installation.

  • Asian Character Support: Chinese, Japanese and Korean users can now view text in their native language in field editors as well as in PDF exports.

  • Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 support: This release now supports using of Workbench and WEBs-AX Supervisor on the latest Microsoft Windows technology. Smart screen icons are also supported on Windows Server 2012.
